Are you searching for ways to make extra cash by this weekend? If so, you’ve come to the right place!
In this article I will share with you some tried and tested ways that you can make extra money by this weekend, even from home, or on the internet.
#1 – Sell Stuff on Facebook Local Classifieds Groups
Over the last 3 years, one of the best ways for selling stuff and making money online has been Facebook’s local classifieds groups.
Although some people may not like Facebook, there’s really no better way online to sell stuff because thanks to Facebook’s messenger app you can post something for sale and receive messages directly to your phone.
To get started with selling stuff on Facebook local classified groups all you have to do is login to Facebook then type in the keyword “classifieds” in the search bar at the top of the page. Your search results will be the classified groups for your local area.
Depending on where you live, there could be up to 10 classified groups or just one. The great thing about these groups is that people generally respond to ads quickly if you have something really good to sell so keep your phone with you during the day and post away because this is one of the best ways to earn extra cash by this weekend.
I personally love Facebooks Classified Groups because I’ve been able to quickly sell items over the years on Facebook without having to pay for ads in the classified section of my local newspaper or incur other advertising costs.
Where Can You Find Items to Sell in Facebook’s Classified Groups?
So, you’re ready to sell stuff on Facebook but don’t know what to sell.
The great thing is that you can start at home by clearing out some of the extra stuff that you’re not currently using in your home.
If you’re the type of person who doesn’t like getting rid of stuff, try separating everything into piles of items that you have not used in the last three months, six months, and 1 year then make a decision to get rid of stuff that you haven’t used in at least six months.
Let’s say that you don’t have anything at home that you can sell. No problem! The best way to find stuff to sell on Facebook is to check the Craigslist free section because depending on where you live you may be able to find lots of free stuff that you can easily pick up on a daily basis then take home to sell on Facebook.
When getting free stuff from Craigslist it’s always best to take a moment before committing to taking certain items because you could be potentially taking ownership of someone else’s problem.
I currently live near Austin TX and have found that people in Austin give A LOT of free stuff away almost every day, especially on weekends.
Over the last year, I’ve picked up tons of free stuff from Austin and sold those items from my house on Facebook.
A good example of problem furniture to avoid on Facebook are couches. Although couches are easy to come by on Craigslist you shouldn’t take every couch that’s offered to you for free because the couch may have bugs that you can’t see, stains and other problems that will make it difficult to resell the couch on Facebook so consider yourself warned if you decide to pick up a free couch online today.
Can You Sell Thrift Store Stuff on Facebook?
If you’re wondering if you can sell items that you’ve bought at the thrift store on Facebook the answer to this question is yes.
Keep in mind that if you decide to sell thrift store items on Facebook you should focus on buying items that you can add $5 to $10 to when you sell them on Facebook because most items at thrift stores are priced low already so you might not be able to sell a thrift store item for much more than you purchased it for.
What Should You Sell on Facebook?
These days almost anything will sell on Facebook but if you really want the advantage over other sellers you should focus on selling items that people use every day like household furniture and beds.
Selling items on Facebook like electronics is kind of tricky because electronics like TV’s are so cheap to buy brand new these days and there’s no guarantee if you’re buying a working used TV so it’s best to stick with selling things that you know will sell without any problems.
#2 – Start Mowing Lawns
Another easy way to start making extra money by this weekend is to start mowing lawns.
Although this suggestion does require an investment in a lawn mower, gas, and a weed eater, it’s totally worth it because when you start mowing lawns you can easily make $20 or more per lawn and depending on the size of the lawn it may take you only one hour to mow.
Back in 1989-1990, I started on the path of an entrepreneur by mowing lawns for my relatives and neighbors.
This is a skill in its own right because not everyone knows how to make a lawn look manicured or has the desire to mow a lawn (especially on hot days) so I know that if I ever needed something to fall back on financially I could always go back to mowing lawns again regardless of where I’m living.
To get the equipment I would look for a used lawnmower and weed eater on Facebook or your local thrift store. You should expect to spend anywhere from $50-$100 on equipment to get started but the good news is that this is a cost that you will only have to pay once.
Once you have the right equipment, to get started with mowing lawns all you have to do is start marketing to your neighbors with flyers then use Facebook’s Classified Groups to start promoting your lawn mowing business online.
Tip – Always remember to drink plenty of water when working outside. I currently live in Central Texas and it gets extremely hot here during the summer so it’s best to stay hydrated regardless of where you live.
Once you get your first lawn mowing customer you should always ask them if there’s anything else that they need because this is also called upselling and it’s another great way to get more money out of a homeowner especially if they have other work that might need to be done at that very moment.
#3 – Make Money Driving for Uber And Lyft
In case you’ve been living under a rock for the last several years Uber and Lyft have been taking the world by storm as best ways to catch a ride somewhere if you don’t want to take a cab.
Signing up for either service is FREE and an excellent way to earn more money side hustling but keep in mind that driving for either company could be potentially dangerous (especially if you live in a big city) so use caution if you decide to use your vehicle to earn some extra bucks this week.
#4 – Freelancing
Do you have skills in writing, online marketing, or sales? Another great way to make some extra cash by this weekend is to start freelancing because in this economy more companies than ever before are using freelancers so it’s a great way to use your skills that you already have and make more money from them.
When it comes to freelancing there are many ways to become a freelancer, one of the most popular is Fiverr because you can start with Fiverr today and have your first sales by the end of the day.
Yes, Fiverr is an easy way to freelance but the money isn’t instant because they generally take up to one week until they pay so if you need some fast cash I suggest contacting companies directly in your area to market your freelance services.
This might be hard for you to do if you’re currently working 8 hours per day already especially if you only work in sales or customer service for a living. In these cases, you should use your time zone to your advantage and contact companies in other parts of the country or world who may be hiring freelancers and are okay with hiring someone in a remote capacity.
Remote work means that they are willing to let you work from home and are okay with this arrangement. The catch is that when working remotely you have to produce RESULTS on a daily basis or you can expect to be fired.
As a professional content writer, I once had a client who lived in Egypt and the only time he contacted me was around 1:00 am Pacific Time in the United States.
Working with overseas clients is always a lot of fun because I get to work with people from other cultures and I offer them value because they sometimes don’t speak English well and are looking for a native English speaker to write their articles.
Freelancing doesn’t just have to be about doing tasks on Fiverr.com, you can also take the tasks that you know and offer them to businesses in the local area.
For example: Everyone knows how to create a Facebook page but few businesses actually know how to set them up and manage them correctly so one service that you can offer local businesses in your area is to find out which businesses don’t have Facebook business profiles then contact them and offer to set up their business pages for a fee.
Besides Facebook, you can also make money managing a company’s Instagram or Yelp accounts as well. The money-making opportunities are endless…
#5 – Sell Household Services
Earlier in this article, I mentioned that you can easily make money mowing lawns in your neighborhood or town. You can also make money offering household services as well like laundry and house cleaning.
Don’t get me wrong, these types of jobs are less than fun or glamorous but the reality is that if you need fast cash you shouldn’t turn your nose up at cleaning someone’s house especially if they are willing to pay you good money to do it.
What should you charge?
To clean a house or do someone’s laundry I would research companies that offer those types of services in your area then price your services slightly below what those companies are charging just so you can start making money fast.
#6 – Get into Affiliate Marketing
There’s no doubt that affiliate marketing is one of the very best ways to make money online because you can usually get paid instantly from most affiliate offers.
There are so many affiliate marketing companies to choose from. I would start with ClickBank, JV Zoo and Warrior Plus before investigating other companies or offers.
If you’ve never sold anything as an affiliate before, it’s fairly easy to get started and make your first sales. Here are some strategies you can use to make money from affiliate marketing:
- Market affiliate products directly to your email list or social media contacts.
- Create videos to promote affiliate products online then insert your affiliate link into the description for the video.
- Write articles about the affiliate product that you’re promoting or niche specific articles that are related to your product and include a link to your product in the call to action of your article.
- Market affiliate products to local businesses via phone or email. If you go this route keep in mind that your products should be related to the business so they will be able to see the value in the product that you’re offering them.
- Register a domain name with the product name in the URL, forward it to your affiliate link (with masking) then run traffic to your affiliate offer via Bing.com.
- Create a fan page on Facebook, create posts to promote your affiliate offer, then boost those posts. You might have to spend up to $20 to boost a post but Facebook is a great way to get qualified traffic seeing the products that you’re marketing.
#7 – Donate Blood
Since this article is providing you with tips you can use for making money by this weekend, way to make some fast cash is by donating your blood (plasma) to a blood bank nearest you.
This method of earning some quick cash isn’t for everyone because obviously you’re giving away something that your body needs so it’s best to really be sure this is what you want to do then use your favorite search engine to find a legit blood bank in your area.
#8 – Recycle
Recycling is another great way you can make money by this weekend because there are opportunities to recycle EVERYWHERE.
Instead of just recycling glass and plastic, I would recycle scrap metal because you can literally get more money for your investment of time by recycling metal.
One of the best places to look for scrap metal is also Craigslist because people are always putting their non-working washers, dryers and other scrap metals on Craigslist and you can make some decent cash simply by picking those items up then recycling them at a scrap metal recycling center in your area.
#9 – Look For Used Clothing With Store Tags Still On Them
Are you planning on going to get some free clothes that are listed on Craigslist? If so, always keep an eye out for clothing that still has store tags on them because a store tag means that you can and should take that clothing back to the store it was originally purchased from and ask for the money back or an in store credit.
At the very least you will be offered an in store credit instead of cash and you could use that credit to buy something in the store that you might need or use that in store credit to buy food.
#10 – Get A Job That Pays Cash Daily
Last of all, but most important, another great way to make cash by this weekend is to get a job that promises to pay cash daily.
Sadly, these jobs are very rare but you can still find them from time to time if you search for jobs on Craigslist.
One industry I know of that pays cash daily is the door to door industry. Companies like Schwan’s sell food door to door and often pay their drivers cash daily because they almost always deal in cash.
The only trade off with getting a door to door sales job is that you have to possess some selling ability and have a “thick skin” because outside selling can be tough but if you’re a numbers person and patient you will be successful in this type of sales position because it often takes X number of no’s before you get a yes.
That’s it for this article! As you can see I’ve given you a lot of great money-making tips here.
